Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao blamed the Congress government for deceiving the people of Telangana with false promises and rampant corruption. He called on the party leaders and workers to unite and fight against the false propaganda of the Congress, forcing it to deliver the poll promises.
Addressing the party cadre from Nirmal district at Telangana Bhavan here on Thursday, Rama Rao urged them to shed internal differences and focus on grassroots mobilisation. He wanted them to work together and strengthen the party in Nirmal, Mudhol, and Khanapur constituencies. He asked them to counter the false propaganda of the Congress and the BJP in equal measure, and expose their collusion targeting the BRS. He urged workers to prepare for local body polls with renewed vigour. “Let us stand by those who have stood by the party,” he said.
Announcing that the party would soon send observors from Hyderabad to scrutinise candidate selections to contest the upcoming local body polls, he emphasised loyalty and commitment to the party as key criteria for selection. He also declared that the party membership drive would be taken up in June and July, appealing to the cadre to rebuild BRS’s strength in the district.
Stressing that power and position mean little without people’s respect, the BRS working president reminded that one got recognition through character and work, not through positions. He took a dig at former Minister A Indrakaran Reddy who switched from the BRS to the ruling Congress, but was being ignored. “We may be in the opposition, but we are acting as the true voice of the people,” he declared.
Calling the Congress regime anti-people, Rama Rao said that even Congress workers were disillusioned. He reiterated that people across Telangana, including Congress supporters, now believe KCR’s governance was more effective, especially in rural welfare and infrastructure delivery.
He compared the achievements of the BRS under K Chandrashekhar Rao’s nine-year rule with the current Congress government’s failures, citing schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Mission Bhagiratha, and double-bedroom housing. He pointed out that while Chandrashekhar Rao borrowed Rs 40,000 crore annually for public welfare, Revanth Reddy has borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh crore in just one year without delivering benefits.
