Bakrid coordination meeting held to review arrangements for the festival in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In view of the Bakrid festival, a coordination meeting was held by Hyderabad Police with other departments to ensure a peaceful and clean celebration of the festival across the city on Thursday.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Hyderabad Additional Commissioner Vikram Singh Mann, Joint Transport Commissioner C Ramesh, Health Department officials and others were present.
Speaking at the meeting, Anand said that only assigned police personnel, GHMC, and Animal Husbandry Department staff would be present at the check posts. He suggested forming local, zonal, and commissionerate-level coordination teams comprising officials from all departments for better coordination and response.
The GHMC Commissioner detailed the extensive sanitation measures being implemented, including the deployment of additional sanitation teams and garbage collection vehicles near wards and mosques.
Key Meeting Points:
*Establishment of checkposts to prevent the illegal transportation of animals.
*Vehicles found violating rules to be seized and immediately sent to GHMC-designated animal holding points or goshalas.
* Appeal to the public and Gorakshak members not to take law into their hands, emphasising that only law enforcement agencies are authorised to stop or inspect vehicles carrying animals.
*Animal Husbandry Department and GHMC to ensure the availability of 24/7 veterinary doctors at all checkposts.
*GHMC officials to deploy dog-catching squads in all areas before Bakrid to manage stray dogs. Supply disposal bags to households for the disposal of animal carcasses.
*Special teams deployed on the festival day for the collection of garbage and carcasses.
*GHMC is to arrange adequate vehicles, tippers for efficient collection and disposal of animal waste.
*The Electricity and Engineering departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
*The HMWSSB and Engineering officials to supervise and maintain sewerage systems.
*RTA officials to ensure the availability of sufficient drivers, mechanics, and cranes.
