Drunnk man creates ruckus in Khammam railway station
Khammam: Panic gripped Khammam railway station on Tuesday after a drunken man attempted to jump off a foot overbridge, keeping railway staff on edge for nearly an hour and a half hour.
The man, later identified as Lalith Bariha, a migrant labourer from Chhattisgarh, climbed out of the foot overbridge and began moving erratically from one steel beam to another, under the influence of alcohol.
Railway police, with the assistance of porters and local residents, launched a rescue operation. As a safety measure, railway personnel cut off power supply to the overhead electric lines, causing delays to several trains during the high-tension drama.
After repeated efforts, the rescuers managed to push the man down into a safety net held by railway police stationed on the tracks below. He was later taken to the railway police station and let off after being counselled.
