Acting as a buyer a man steals 13 tulas gold from a shop at Manugur

The incident occurred on Friday at Srivaari Jewellers located at Ambedkar Centre in the town. Shop owner Kalyani informed the media that she had stepped out for lunch in the afternoon, leaving a staff member to manage the store.

Kothagudem: Acting as a buyer a man had allegedly stolen gold items weighing around 13 tulas from a jewellery shop at Manugur town in the district and police launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

The incident took place at Srivaari Jewellers at Ambedkar centre in the town on Friday. The shop owner Kalyani told the media that during the afternoon she went for lunch and there was a worker in the shop.


The accused who wanted to buy some silver items told the worker that he would pay an advance of Rs 500 for them and he would come back in the evening to collect those silver items. Nearly forty minutes after the man left the shop, the owner came back to the shop and found that a box containing gold items was missing.

When the CCTV camera footage was checked it was found the man lifted the box. The shop owner lodged a complaint with Manugur police. DSP Ravinder Reddy and SI Meda Prasad launched an investigation into the incident.

The police released a CCTV grab of the thief appealing to all the shop owners in the town to check CCTV cameras in their shops to track his movements and inform police if they spotted him.
