Auto-rickshaw trapped in flooding stream, passengers rescued in Asifabad

According to locals, the auto-rickshaw with two passengers tried to cross the stream via a temporary bridge when a sudden surge in water level, caused by heavy rainfall upstream, led to the bridge collapsing under the strong current.
Asifabad: An auto-rickshaw was stranded in a flooding stream after a temporary bridge was washed away by rainwaters at Gundi village in Asifabad mandal on Saturday. The vehicle’s driver and two passengers managed to escape unharmed.
Locals said the auto-rickshaw, carrying two passengers, attempted to cross the stream using the temporary bridge when the water level rose suddenly due to heavy rains upstream. The bridge collapsed under the force of the current.
Sensing danger, the passengers and the driver got down and were helped to safety by locals. The three-wheeler was later retrieved with the help of a rope.
All three heaved a sigh of relief after surviving the incident unscathed.
