Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivers speech on occasion of Lebanon resistance and liberation day on Sunday, according to Al Manar English website.
At the start of his speech, Qassem said that “Resistance and Liberation Day crowned Lebanon’s stature in the region and the world.”
“Resistance and Liberation Day made weak Lebanon a powerful country,” he added.
According to Hezbollah leader, “‘Israel’ tried to impose the May 17 agreement, but the popular and national resistance prevented it.”
“Since 1982 the Israelis realized that they can’t settle in the Lebanese territory,” he also noted, continuing that ” ‘Israel’ attempted to impose another agreement but Lebanon refused and the occupation forces fled into the night leaving collaborators behind them.”
“This is a very great victory for the resistance and the sacrificing people who were able to crush ‘Israel’ by its unconditional withdrawal from south Lebanon,” he also said.
“Liberation of south Lebanon changed the course of the region politically and culturally as it moved us from frustration to hope,” Qassem added.
“After the liberation of south Lebanon the Resistance became a basic component of Lebanon,” the Hezbollah chief continued, adding “Resistance is the natural solution to defend the country when the army is unable to do so.”
“Israel’s ability to expand into Lebanon has ended. The era of victories brought about a transformation in Palestine that put the enemy on the path to extinction,” Sheikh Qassem continued.
“The Resistance is for defensive purposes, it’s about rejection of occupation and refusal to surrender,” he later added.
‘Israel’ has to withdraw from Lebanon, stop its aggression and release the prisoners,” the Hezbollah leader also pointed out.
“The US bears responsibility as it sponsors the Israeli aggression in Lebanon and Gaza.”
The wonderful Yemeni model forced the US to retreat as it stood by Gaza and Palestine, Qassem went on to say.
“If the state fails to perform its duties, other options are on the table,” the Hezbollah leader underscored.
“The US violates the Lebanese sovereignty, and what ‘Israel’ couldn’t achieve during the war the US won’t achieve it now,” Qassem continued.
“The Israeli conditions won’t be met. No one can threaten us,” he further asserted.
“It’s either victory or martyrdom, and we are fully ready,” the Hezbollah leader also pointed out.
“The high voter turnout was significant and the crowds of southerners brought back memories of the liberation in 2000,” he concluded about the recent local elections in Lebanon.
