Harish Rao, Kavitha pay tributes to Basaveshwara

Remembering the contributions of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Harish Rao highlighted that the BRS government officially celebrated Basaveshwara Jayanti, erected a bronze statue on Tank Bund in Hyderabad, and allocated Rs 10 crore for the construction of Basava Bhavan in Kokapet to honour his legacy. He emphasized that the best tribute to Basaveshwara is by following his principles of equality and reform.

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former Minister T Harish Rao extended greetings to the people of Telangana on the birth anniversary of Guru Basaveshwara, hailing him as a humanist and visionary who championed social justice, women’s empowerment, and the eradication of caste and religious discrimination.

Recalling the contributions of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Harish Rao noted that the BRS government officially celebrated Basaveshwara Jayanti, installed a bronze statue on Hyderabad’s Tank Bund, and allocated Rs 10 crore for Basava Bhavan in Kokapet to honour his legacy. He said the true tribute to Basaveshwara lies in walking his path of equality and reform.


MLC K Kavitha also paid homage, hailing Basaveshwara as a progressive leader who fought against caste, colour, and gender discrimination, and envisioned a just and equal society.
