Hyderabad: BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao extended heartfelt greetings to workers, labourers, and farmers, saluting their contribution to nation-building, on the occasion of International Labour Day. Recalling the historical significance of May Day, he paid tribute to the global working class movement and the sacrifices of labourers, especially those from marginalised communities.

In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao said the workers’s toil which drives industrial growth and creates national wealth, is unparalleled and invaluable. He reminded various initiatives of the previous BRS government to uphold workers’ rights and welfare, to improve life security. “Inspired by May Day, Telangana became a model for industrial development with progressive labour policies under our government,” he said.

The former Chief Minister pointed to Telangana’s new industrial policy, which attracted global investments and generated lakhs of job opportunities. He also emphasised efforts to ensure dignity and rights for women workers across the production and service sectors. He stated that special attention was given to Singareni coal miners, auto drivers, daily-wage labourers and other unorganised sector workers, through dedicated welfare schemes and social protections.

“True homage to May Day lies in strengthening pro-worker policies. Only through continued commitment to the working class can we honour the spirit of May Day and the sacrifices of labourers across the world,” he asserted.
