Sangareddy: Despite studying in a government school, Class 10 student Gaddam Varsika has emerged as one of the State’s top performers, securing an impressive 590 out of 600 marks in the SSC exams.

Varsika is the daughter of government school teacher Vasantha Kumari. She joined Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Kamkole, just a year ago, after transferring from a private minority residential school where her mother was previously posted. Following Vasantha Kumari’s transfer to Rajendranagar, Varsika enrolled in ZPHS Kamkole for logistical convenience, as her maternal uncle Bhaskar — a teacher — could easily drop and pick her up from the school.

In a conversation with Telangana Today, Varsika shared that staying away from mobile phones helped her focus on her studies. “I was determined to make the most of my time and prioritized my academics,” she said. Varsika’s achievement is part of a larger trend of excellence from government school students this year. Gayathri, a student of ZPHS B Cheriyal, scored 588 marks, while Drushika from the same school secured 586. Overall, 13 students from government schools scored over 580 marks in the SSC exams this year.

Varsika aspires to join IIIT-Basara to pursue a career in software engineering.
