Hyderabad: Family members of a 20-year-old youngster Banoth Ramana, a resident of Nilagiri Swamy Thanda, Wardhannapet, Warangal, who was declared as brain dead by attending doctors, have decided to donate his organs for needy patients under Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
On April 27, Banoth Ramana, who was a driver by profession, was travelling on a two-wheeler when he was suddenly hit by a tractor. Family members rushed him to a local hospital and alter shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
After multiple days of emergency treatment, the health condition of the youngster did not improve and the attending doctors at the private hospital declared him as brain dead. The wife of the brain dead victim Kalyani gave consent to donate the organs.
The surgeons retrieved kidneys (02), Liver (01), Heart (01) and Corneas (02), (in all six donor organs) and allocated them to needy patients under Jeevandan initiative.
