Resistance groups, organizations rage against Israeli aggression targeting Gaza-bound aid flotilla

Palestinian groups and other regional factions and organizations have strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s earlier attack on the al-Dameer (Conscience) ship, part of the Freedom Flotilla, which was targeted while trying to break Tel Aviv’s ongoing suffocating siege on the Gaza Strip.
The vessel was struck by Israeli drones as it was navigating the international waters off the coast of Malta in a calculated assault aimed at disabling its generator.
Fortunately, the fire that ensued was quickly contained, and all individuals aboard were confirmed to be safe.
While the Maltese government reported 16 people on board, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition stated there were 30 crewmembers and activists.
The attack has sparked widespread outrage across the West Asia region, with various factions denouncing the Israeli regime for escalating its campaign of aggression against Gaza-bound aid efforts.
‘Piracy, organized state terror’
Gaza-based resistance movement Hamas was quick to condemn the atrocity, calling it “piracy and organized state terrorism.”
In a statement, the group held the regime fully accountable for the safety of the ship and its crew. It lauded the crew’s bravery and emphasized the need to continue exposing Israeli brutality as part of the broader fight against “Zionist fascism.”
The group also called for the United Nations Security Council to take urgent action, demanding accountability for Tel Aviv’s repeated violations of the international law and its crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, another Gaza-headquareted resistance group, condemned the attack as “new proof” of the regime’s ongoing use of starvation and siege as tools of warfare against the Palestinian people.
The group described the attack as a “blatant mockery of international laws and norms,” including rulings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to the movement, Tel Aviv’s actions represented an arrogant defiance of global efforts to uphold human rights.
‘Not possible without US support’
Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah also weighed in, calling the attack a flagrant violation of both the international law and humanitarian principles.
In a strongly-worded statement, the group lambasted the regime for carrying out this crime with the full backing of the United States, its biggest ally, highlighting the “shameful international complicity” that allows such aggression to continue.
The movement further noted the silence of certain Arab states in the face of this ongoing “genocide.”
The attack took place amid the regime’s October 2023 genocidal war against Gaza that has so far claimed the lives of more than 52,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
The Mujahideen Movement, another resistance faction, similarly condemned the attack, referring to it as a “new terrorist crime” that threatened international peace and stability.
The group called for global solidarity to intensify efforts to break the blockade on Gaza and demanded that international bodies take a firm stand against Israeli aggression.
‘Attack harks back to Mavi Marmara massacre’
In a similar vein, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a Palestinian organization, expressed alarm over the escalation of Israeli piracy, linking it to the infamous 2010 Mavi Marmara incident.
The PFLP highlighted the growing global support for the Palestinian cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression, which the Israeli regime is increasingly trying to stifle through such attacks.
The group stressed that the regime’s disregard for international resolutions and its continued actions under the protection of Western powers revealed the urgent need for escalated international pressure and boycotts against Tel Aviv.
‘Zionist thuggery’
The Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of resistance groups, went further, describing the attack as a symptom of “Zionist thuggery” and an embodiment of the regime’s “fascism without limits.”
It condemned the assault as the product of American support for the regime’s actions and urged the global community to awaken to the reality of Israeli criminality, and rise up against the regime.
The regime, however, remains defiant amid the avalanche of denunciation of its barbaric assaults on Palestinians, other regional peoples, and pro-Palestinian and pro-resistance people. It has routinely alleged that its military operations were necessary for “security” reasons.
