Palestinian foundation sues Israeli colonel at World Court for killing Hind Rajab

The Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a war crimes complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, following a year-long investigation into the murder of Hind Rajab, her family, and two medics who attempted to rescue them.
The Belgium-based foundation announced on Saturday that the complaint identifies Lieutenant Colonel Beni Aharon, then-commander of the 401st Armored Brigade of the Israeli military, as the key perpetrator.
Under the command of Aharon, an Israeli tank unit targeted Hind’s family’s civilian vehicle, subsequently attacking and destroying a Palestine Red Crescent ambulance sent to rescue her, HRF said.
HRF said its investigation had confirmed the identities of the battalion operating under Aharon’s authority in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood on January 29, 2024, as well as its field commanders and operational officers.
“These men are no longer unknown. They are no longer protected by silence,” HRF warned.
An initial attack had killed Hind’s family members. However, the little girl, who was both injured and frightened, was still alive.
“Please, come get me,” were the final words the 6-year-old said on the phone in their car with the bodies of her slain family members to the ambulance dispatcher as she hid and waited for help before she, too, was killed by the Israeli forces on January 29, 2024, in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli regime forces then targeted the two first responders in the rescue ambulance dispatched to provide aid, killing the two medics inside.
Eventually, the dead bodies of Hind and her family members were found on February 10, lying in their car. Just meters away, the burned-out ambulance was found with the remains of the two paramedics who tried to save the little girl in it.
The Hind Rajab Foundation, which has already filed several lawsuits in various countries against criminal Israeli forces, is also preparing to take additional legal action against the other atrocious members of the unit under Aharon’s command.
Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, close to 52,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, with many more injured and some still buried and unaccounted for under the ruins of what remains of Gaza’s destroyed cities.
In November, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant “for crimes against humanity and war crimes.”
The criminal Israeli regime also faces a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice.
