Man, woman held for smuggling illicit liquor from Maharashtra, in Adilabad

In a statement, officials from the Task Force and Enforcement wings of the Prohibition and Excise Department said that Sura Ravi and Chintala Sujatha, residents of Gandhinagar and Voddera Colony in Adilabad town respectively, were apprehended while transporting the liquor following a tip-off. They were later produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.

Sleuths of a task force and enforcement wings produce the accused persons before pressmen in Adilabad on Sunday

Adilabad: Two persons were apprehended for allegedly smuggling banned desi daru or illicit liquor brewed in Maharashtra, by an auto-rickshaw at Dollara village in Jainath mandal on Sunday. A total of 1,270 liquor bottles worth Rs 45,720 were seized from the two.

In a statement, sleuths of a task force and enforcement wings belonging to the Prohibition and Excise department said that Sura Ravi and Chintala Sujatha, both from Gandhinagar and Voddera Colony in Adilabad town, respectively were arrested when they were carrying the bottles, following a tip-off. They were produced before a court and were sent to a judicial remand.


District Task Force Inspector Mutyam, Enforcement Inspector Akbar Hussain and staffers of the department took part in the operation.
