Lightning strike robs farmer’s family of livestock, livelihood in Telangana’s Siddipet

The district experienced intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms on Sunday evening. Balaraju estimated his total loss at Rs 1.5 lakh, in addition to the devastation of losing his sole source of livelihood.

Siddipet: Sunday’s thunderstorms, which were accompanied by lightning and heavy winds, have left a farmer’s family bereft of its livelihood. The lightning killed two bulls owned by farmer Balaraju Mudiraj, his only source of income, at Kistapur in Chinnakodur mandal on Sunday night.
The district had witnessed heavy rains coupled with strong winds and thunderstorms on Sunday evening. Balaraju said he had suffered a loss of Rs 1.5 lakh apart from losing his livelihood.
Since the Vanakalam season was fast approaching, Balaraju was worried that it would be difficult for him to till his lands without the bulls. The family was inconsolable as they found their bulls lying lifeless after the storm.
