Telangana: Man gets three months in jail for smuggling ganja in Asifabad


Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A court here on Monday sentenced a man to three months of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him for smuggling ganja five years ago.

District Sessions Court Principal Judge MV Ramesh pronounced the verdict awarding the term and fine against Shaik Amaruddin from Lakkaram in Jainoor after finding him guilty for selling ganja. The court cross-questioned eye witnesses and examined pieces of evidence produced before it by public prosecutor Jaganmohan Rao.


The then Jainoor Sub-Inspector Thirupathi took up investigations after booking a case against Amaruddin when the latter was caught while carrying ganja during a vehicle check held on July 26 in 2020.

ASP S Chittaranjan commended present Jainoor Inspector Ramesh, Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar and court duty officer Ram Singh for securing conviction in the case.
