HYDERABAD: “We just need three more wins. We always look like that only because we always play with a good intent and with a good attitude towards the game. So, yes, we always think about wins,” said Delhi Capitals hard-hitting batter Ashutosh Singh after his crucial knock helped his team score a respectable 133 for seven in the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad which eventually was abandoned due to heavy rains here with the home team not getting a chance to bat on Monday night.

“So only three games left and we want to win all the games. We lost some few wickets earlier but the wicket was too slow and at last we got the momentum,” Ashutosh said in the post-match briefing.

“Of course, every point is crucial at this stage of the tournament. We are happy that we got one point, it’s okay. It’s part of the game,” he said on tonight’s game.

“I always love to play in this situation (under pressure after the team was 62 for six when he went out there to join Tristan Stubbs). So, I love to play in pressure and I always prepare myself for these kind of situations where no one is getting runs and if I will get runs, it will be good for my team and for me also,” Ashutosh said on his crucial knock tonight. End-result disappointing, says Vettori

“This has been probably our best bowling and fielding performance of the tournament so far. Obviously it’s (the end result) is disappointing,” said Sunrisers head coach Daniel Vettori after his team was eliminated from the race for play -offs’ place

“We came in with high hopes but we just haven’t been consistent enough with our performances and not being able to put complete performances together,” the SRH head coach said.

“I think the first time Cummins took the new ball tonight, took the first over and you can see why he’s such a dominant Test match bowler when he gets that opportunity. So pleasing for him to be able to turn up today and bowl so well and lead the team exceptionally well,” Vettori said. “So, hopefully that carries on to the last three games of the season,” he added.

“I definitely didn’t say after every match I was backing an aggressive approach, I said we’re about assessing conditions and I think this year the conditions weren’t as we expected,” he said.

“I think if you look at last year there were a number of high-scoring games here and these surfaces in particular have been a little bit different, so it has been tricky and not easy for batters,” Vettori explained

“I think the guys are innately aggressive but it’s certainly this season that has been about trying to establish what’s required on the day. I think there have been two surfaces – the 250-plus and then there’s been another. I think four here that have been probably more conducive for the fast bowlers, not so much the spinners but new ball, been a little bit sticky, hard to hit, not coming on to the bat,” Vettori said on the pitches.
