Press TV journalist wins Sobh Media Festival award for feature on US role in Gaza genocide

Press TV website was among the winners at the 3rd Sobh International Media Festival, with one of its journalists receiving the award for ‘Best Feature Story.’
Humaira Ahad, a feature writer for the Press TV website, was honored for her story titled ‘333 Days of Gaza Genocide and 333 Reasons Why the Mastermind is the US,’ published in September 2024.
The story was released when the genocidal war had reached its 333rd day, claiming more than 40,700 lives – most of them women and children.
It exposed the role played by the United States, under the Biden administration, in aiding and facilitating the genocide by offering not only diplomatic cover but also lethal weapons to the regime in Tel Aviv.
“Since October 7 of last year, the US has repeatedly and unapologetically reaffirmed its ‘ironclad’ support for the Israeli regime, becoming an equal partner in its crimes,” the story stated.
The story laid bare 333 reasons illustrating the deep and direct complicity of the US in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and showing that the true mastermind is the US military-industrial complex.
In her acceptance speech, Ahad, who hails from Indian-administered Kashmir, expressed her gratitude to the people of Palestine for teaching the world the values of “resistance, resilience, and faith.”
“Writing on Palestine is our act of resistance – to speak against silence, against the distortion of truth, and against the propaganda unleashed by Western media,” said the journalist.
“As a Kashmiri, I’m honored to be living in a country that stands for the oppressed. Long live Palestine.”
Press TV’s Tehran bureau also received an award for its coverage of Iran’s drone industry, while the Press TV documentary “Legacy of the Wind” by Nasim Soheili won a prize in the documentary section.
The International Sobh Media Festival, organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service, is currently underway with the attendance of nearly 40 foreign guests.
The annual event seeks to amplify voices and narratives often marginalized by Western media, particularly those aligned with resistance movements opposing imperialist forces.
