Telangana: Jagtial Congress leaders clash with each other

Congress leaders from Korutla constituency arguing with DCC president Adluri Laxman Kumar in Jagtial on Wednesday.

Jagtial: Close on the heels of factional clashes in Karimnagar and Sircilla, internal discords surfaced in the Jagtial Congress as two rival groups clashed in the presence of AICC secretary Vishwanathan Perumal. The district Congress workers’ meeting was held in Jagtial on Wednesday, chaired by DCC president and Dharmapuri MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar.

Vishwanathan Perumal was the chief guest, while senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy and other party leaders were also present. Trouble began when Metpalli Agriculture Market Committee Chairman Govardhan was invited onto the dais. Supporters of Korutla constituency in-charge Juvvadi Narsinga Rao objected to the DCC’s decision, protesting his presence.

The dissenting group stood in protest and raised slogans such as “Go back, BRS covert,” accusing Govardhan of being loyal to the opposition party. In response, supporters of Metpalli Congress leader Kalvakuntla Sujeet Rao confronted Narsinga Rao’s followers, leading to heated arguments and chaos.

Noisy scenes ensued as the clash between the two groups disrupted proceedings. The situation was brought under control following an appeal by DCC president Laxman Kumar.
