Special task force to check spurious seed sales in Telangana’s Siddipet

Cases under PD Act will be filed against persons caught selling spurious seeds to farmers, says Commissioner of Police

Siddipet: Commissioner of Police Dr B Anuradha constituted special task force teams to keep a watch on spurious seed sellers ahead of Vanakalam season.

In a press statement on Thursday, Dr Anuradha said they would file cases under PD Act against persons who were caught selling spurious seeds to farmers. The Commissioner said spurious seeds would leave farmers in huge losses.

The task force committee with members from police, agriculture and other departments would tour across the district regularly. They would also regularly check seed shops and godowns to curb sale of spurious seeds, she said, adding that movement of those with history of selling spurious seeds would be closely monitored.

The district borders too would be monitored to check transportation of spurious seeds into Siddipet, she said.
