60-year-old shepherd gored to death by wild boar in Telangana’s Adilabad


Adilabad: A shepherd was killed on the spot when a wild boar gored him at Chilatiguda hamlet under Dhodanda village in Indervelli mandal on Friday evening.

Forest officials said that Madavi Bojju (60) received serious injuries when the boar attacked him while he was grazing cattle in a forest, resulting in instantaneous death for him at around 6 pm. Some other cattle herders noticed his body and alerted his family members.


Bojju is survived by his wife and two sons. Based on a complaint received from his wife Tulasibai, a case was registered.

The officials said that steps were being taken to extend compensation to the kin of the family of the shepherd at the earliest.

Earlier, Bheema Bai from the village received minor injuries when the leopard attacked her at her cattle shed located on the fringes of a forest at Dedra village in Bazarhathnoor mandal on December 14.

On November 29, Morle Lakshmi (21) was mauled to death by a tiger while she was harvesting cotton crop at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. The same tiger was suspected to have attacked Rauthu Suresh at Dubbagudem village in Sirpur (T) mandal on November 30.

A wild elephant that drifted towards the wild of Telangana by crossing Pranahita river after getting separated from its herd in Maharashtra had trampled Alluri Shankar (50) of Burepalli village in Chintalamanepalli mandal and Karu Posham (65) from Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal to death on April 3 and 4.
