Hyderabad: The BRS leaders paid rich tributes to former Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on his 85th birth anniversary at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. They recalled his role in Telangana statehood movement and his contribution to people of Hyderabad.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao recalled Narasimha Reddy’s commitment to the Telangana statehood movement in 1969 and later, since 2001, throughout the statehood movement. He remembered the latter’s dynamic tenure as the State’s first Home Minister. “Even at 70, Nayani garu worked with the enthusiasm of a young man. As a Minister, his role in withdrawing false cases during the agitation will always be remembered,” he said.

Describing him as a leader who prioritised workers’ rights over personal gain, Rama Rao said Narasimha Reddy was the founder member of BRS who stood like a brother with the party chief K Chandrashekhar Rao. He lauded Narasimha Reddy for resigning from his Ministerial post in the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government, backing Chandrashekhar Rao’s call for the Telangana cause.

He reminded the naming of the RTC Crossroads steel bridge after him as a mark of respect, during the BRS regime. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting Nayani’s family.

Legislative Council Opposition Leader S Madhusudana Chari recalled Narasimha Reddy as a leader with values and a pillar of strength during the statehood struggle.
