Hyderabad: Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), research scientist Dr. Surya Prakash Singh, has been awarded the prestigious INSA Distinguished Lecture Fellowship for the year 2025 by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
Dr. Singh is the first researcher from CSIR-IICT and Hyderabad to receive this distinguished honor. He leads a research group at IICT focused on translational research with real-world applications in sustainable energy and materials science. His work centers on designing advanced molecular materials, especially photosensitizers, to boost the efficiency of next-generation solar technologies like dye-sensitized, organic, and perovskite solar cells.
A key achievement of Dr. Singh’s research is the development of neutral, non-toxic, stable, and highly fluorescent BODIPY dyes for mitochondrial imaging in biological systems. This innovation holds promise for scientific and biomedical use.
Dr. Singh’s contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the CRSI Bronze Medal (2024), NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award (2012) and AVRA Young Scientist Award (2015).
