HYDERABAD: Nishika Aggrawal of Telangana won the gold in the women’s vaulting table event with a score of 12.334 while Anoushka Patil of Maharashtra (12.100) and Sara Rawool, also of Maharashtra (11.700) settled for silver and bronze, respectively, in the Khelo India Youth Games gymnastics competition in Patna on Wednesday.

For the 16-year-old Hyderabad gymnast, it was her second gold in this edition.

Nishika also won a bronze in the uneven bars with a score of 9.700 while Anoushka Patil of Maharashtra (10.433) and Sneha Tariyal of Delhi (9.833) finished with gold and silver, respectively.
The Hyderabad girl had a terrific day, winning her second bronze, in the balance beam, with a score of 10.600. Varsha Anand Nair of Kerala (10.833) and Jinia Debnath of West Bengal (10.700) won gold and silver, respectively.

A visibly delighted coach Manoj Rana said he was immensely pleased with Nishika’s performance. “Definitely, it could have been better, but she was unlucky to have a couple of falls to miss gold and had to settle for two bronzes. But again, winning two gold medals in her second KYIG (she won three gold and a silver in the last edition) is no mean feat. It only shows that Nishka has been improving with each outing,” Rana said.

“This is the result of a lot of hard work, commitment and passion,” the proud coach informed ‘Telangana Today’.

Interestingly, Telangana gymnasts finished overall second in the gymnastics competition to bag team silver with Maharashtra and Delhi winning gold and silver, respectively.
