Trees uprooted at several places in Medak district due to rains coupled with strong winds on Wednesday.
Sangareddy: Several parts of Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet districts witnessed heavy to moderate rains on Wednesday. The rain water flooded the paddy procurement centres, causing huge loss to farmers.
Trees and electric poles were uprooted due to strong winds. The traffic flow was paralysed as the rain water flooded the road at several places. Some low-lying roads were also submerged in rain water.
Lightning strike kills elderly woman
A lightning strike killed an elderly woman at Nagireddipalli in Kohir mandal of Sangareddy on Wednesday. The woman Yedla Ratnamma (61), who was taking shelter under a tree, died on the spot when rains coupled with thunderstorms lashed the village. Deputy Tahsildar Varaprasad visited the village and collected the details. A case was registered.
In another incident in the district, lightning strike killed a boy at Dappur village of Nyalkal mandal. Mohd Saber (15) had taken shelter under a tree when lightning struck. He died on the spot. A case was registered.
