Israeli military tightens siege on north Gaza Indonesian Hospital, opens ‘random’ fire

The Israeli military has besieged the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, indiscriminately firing live ammunition at anyone within or near the premises.
Gaza Ministry of Health revealed in a statement on Sunday that the Israeli military has intensified its targeting and siege of the Indonesian Hospital since dawn.
“A state of panic and confusion prevails among patients, the wounded, and medical staff, severely hindering the provision of emergency medical care,” read the statement.
According to the ministry, this came after the European Gaza Hospital was rendered out of service a few days ago.
“The occupation is intensifying its systematic campaign to target hospitals and force them out of service,” the statement highlighted.
It also added that two patients were injured while attempting to exit the hospital.
The statement warned that the Israeli military is escalating its “systematic campaign” to target hospitals and force them out of service.
“The Ministry of Health urgently appeals to all relevant parties to intervene immediately to protect medical teams, patients, and the wounded inside the hospital,” it concluded.
Dr. Hussam Hamouda, a general surgeon at the Indonesian Hospital also in a post on X on Sunday said that while he and five other doctors have managed to escape the hospital, the wounded remain trapped inside.
“Since yesterday, we have been besieged inside the Indonesian Hospital… Drones never left the sky, shells rained from every direction, and bullets were fired randomly — even inside patient rooms. It felt like a horror movie, but the reality was far more brutal,” he wrote.
“At 7 a.m., I left with the last five doctors. Everything had collapsed… and sadly, the hospital is now out of service. The wounded remain trapped inside. We carry the guilt, but we have no power,” he added.
They managed to flee through a hole in the wall, running nearly 10 kilometers under the barrage of shelling until they reached what was called “safety”.
“But what kind of safety is this, when bodies lie in the streets, hearts are shattered, and helplessness consumes us?
“I am telling you the truth as I lived it — anything else you hear is a lie. My heart is still there… with those we couldn’t save, with those we left behind. We carry their pain in our chests, and there is nothing we can do…,” he regretted.
Since October 7, 2023, when the Israeli regime began its genocidal war against the people of Gaza, it has killed 53,272 Palestinians, and injured 120,673 others, most of them children and women.
On Friday, the Israeli military announced that it had intensified its attacks on Gaza. It has conducted a wave of massive aerial assaults and deployed additional troops to the Palestinian territory.
