Unseasonal rains cause losses to paddy farmers in Telangana’s Nirmal


Nirmal: Paddy produce stored at procurement centres was drenched by unseasonal rains causing losses to farmers in the district on Wednesday.

Farmers shifted the paddy grains to sell the produce to the government at procurement centres in Khanapur, Tanur, Soan, Basar, Mudhole and many other mandal centres. They said the grains were affected by the unexpected rains, and that they had registered losses due to the rains occurred twice in recent times.


According to Telangana Planning Development Society, Nirmal district recorded an average rainfall of 11 mm. Basar mandal received the highest rainfall of 24.8 mm, followed by Mudhole mandal which had 23.7 mm of rainfall. Tanur saw 20.6 mm of rainfall, while Narsapur (G), Lokeshwaram, Dilawarpur, Nirmal, Soan, Laxmanchanda and Khanapur mandals experienced over 10 mm of rainfall.
