Sangareddy: The previous BRS government had laid the foundation for the Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Projects in 2022 to bring 3.90 lakh acres under cultivation by supplying Godavari water through the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) across Sangareddy district. The combined outlay of both the projects was Rs.4,427 crore.
However, the Congress government has kept both the projects pending, dashing the hopes of lakhs of farmers. Since Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is slated to reach Zaheerabad to inaugurate a rail over bridge in the town besides participating in multiple programmes on Friday, farmers in the district are hoping for a positive statement from the Chief Minister on these two lift irrigation projects. Congress MLAs and other leaders are expected to insist on the Chief Minister to make a statement owing to pressure from the public.
Apart from this, the people of the district are also expecting a statement on the extension of the Metro Rail service up to Sangareddy town. The BRS government had announced the extension of Metro service to Isnapur in Patancheru mandal. However, the people of the district were demanding for extension of service until Sangareddy town which is just 15 km away from Isnapur. In addition to this, the MPs, MLAs, MLCs and others are also expecting special fund allocations for development of roads, and drainages in the municipalities.
