Karimnagar: Manakondur police have arrested a cybercriminal from Gujarat named Hitesh at Delhi airport. Hitesh is a key accused in luring a youth K Madhukar Reddy into cybercrime trap and subjected to torture.
Karimnagar Rural ACP (ASP) Shubham Prakash, in a statement, informed that K Madhukar Reddy from Rangampet of Manakondur mandal, responded to a job notification on a Telegram channel named “Chinese Job.”
After submitting his details online, he was selected by the company, which booked his flight ticket from Hyderabad to Bangkok.
Upon reaching , , a person named Shyam Rao contacted Madhukar Reddy via WhatsApp and instructed him to acquire a new SIM card at the airport. After obtaining the new SIM, Madhukar Reddy traveled by bus from Bangkok Airport to Myawaddy district.
At the Myawaddy bus stop, Hitesh interviewed Madhukar Reddy via WhatsApp. Later, he was taken to the Hong Xing Company, located on the Thailand border. There, he was made to sign a one-year employment agreement.
However, Madhukar Reddy later realized that the agreement was for engaging in cybercrime. He informed the police that he was not only pressured to commit cybercrimes but also tortured with punishments if he refused. It has been identified that many individuals were similarly deceived by offering jobs.
The main accused in this case, Hitesh was deported to India by the Myanmar government following directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs. On Wednesday, Manakondur Police officials arrested him at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi as he was returning to India.
Police produced him before the Karimnagar court for remand.
