KTR condemns TPCC chief’s remarks on Supreme Court, questions Congress’s respect for judiciary

Describing the remarks as “absolutely appalling,” Rama Rao accused the Congress of once again displaying a lack of respect for the judiciary. He said the comments were not only an insult to the Supreme Court but also to the Constitution of India. Rama Rao further alleged that the Congress has a pattern of questioning judicial verdicts for political advantage, citing the Kancha Gachibowli forest issue and the Palamuru-Rangareddy project case as instances.

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has condemned the comments made by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud following the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the Special Leave Petition in the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme case.

Calling the remarks “absolutely appalling,” Rama Rao said the Congress has once again shown its disregard for the judiciary. “It is not just demeaning to the Supreme Court but also to the Constitution of India,” he said. He charged the Congress with repeatedly casting aspersions on judicial verdicts for political gain, citing both the Kancha Gachibowli forest issue and the Palamuru-Rangareddy project case as examples.

The former Minister took a direct swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning the sincerity of his ongoing Nyay Yatras. “Rahul Gandhi ji must decide whether his party intends to respect court verdicts or not. He cannot be doing “Nyay Yatras” with a copy of the Constitution when his leaders have scant respect to the judicial system of the country,” he stated.

Taking aim at Mahesh Kumar Goud, Rama Rao asked whether the Congress would have challenged a court ruling if it had gone in their favour of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. “If courts rule against them, they cry foul. If courts rule in their favour, they celebrate. This double standard is dangerous,” he said.
