Telangana: Retired IPS officer Capt KV Reddy no more

Capt KV Reddy, a war veteran of Indian Army had joined the Andhra Pradesh Police Service and retired as IG of police after he was conferred with Indian Police Service. Known to be a gentle soul, Capt KV Reddy was an ardent follower of Jiddu Krishnamurthy philosophy

Hyderabad: An IPS officer Capt. K V Reddy, who retired as an Inspector General of Police passed away after a brief illness here on Friday and his funeral was conducted in Alwal on Saturday. He was 78 and is survived by his wife and son.

Capt Reddy, served as Additional DCP of task force in Hyderabad city, DCP of North Zone in Hyderabad, Superintedent of police in Anantapur and Kadapa districts of undivided Andhra Pradesh and later in various capacities as DIG and IG of police and in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Police Academy in Hyderabad.

He was commissioned into the Indian Army as a short service commission officer and had fought in Indo-Pakistan war in 1971. He was one of the officers who led a platoon of soldiers, which reached Dhaka during the Bangladesh Liberation war.

Known to be a gentle soul and an ardent follower of Jiddu Krishnamurthy’s philosophy, Capt Reddy laid great emphasis on training of policemen and officers to not only in professional capabilities, but also in protecting their mental and physical health. He earned respect from his fellow officers and men, for introducting coaching classes while serving as DCP of North Zone in Hyderabad.

Capt Reddy, fondly called as KV by his friends and colleagues, was an excellent tennis player and had produced several CDs on Jiddu Krishnamurthy philosophy, on mindful living and on living stress free life.
