Several protest, form human chains demanding withdrawal of Waqf Amendment Act in Hyderabad

People form a human chain to protest against the Waqf Amendment Act, at Charminar in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Hyderabad: A protest demanding the withdrawal of Waqf Amendment Act was held with a human chains organised in the city on Sunday.
Following a call by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), several people formed human chains at different places in the city.
The programme was held for half-an-hour between 2 pm to 2.30 pm at Chandrayangutta, Mehdipatnam, Bahadurpura, Mir Alam Tank, Santoshnagar, Malakpet, Yakutpura and other places. Protesters, including women and children cutting across age groups, gathered at designated places in large numbers.
In the old city, the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen workers participated alongside the local people and members of other social and religious organisations.
Ahmed Pasha Quadri, general secretary, AIMIM party said it was a peaceful protest to send a strong message to the government that people were against the WAA and it should be withdrawn immediately.
At Owaisi Hospital junction, AIMIM party floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi participated in the programme along with the party workers and local people.
