BRS silver jubilee in Dallas set to be grand affair: Mahesh Bigala

Hyderabad: The BRS NRI Global Cell is pulling out all stops to mark the party’s silver jubilee and Telangana State Formation Day with a grand celebration in Dallas on June 1. The event scheduled to be held at the DR Pepper Arena, will serve not only as a cultural spectacle but also as a strategic platform for the party’s overseas engagement.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao will be the chief guest at the event, which will also see the participation of several former Ministers, sitting and former MLAs, MLCs, and other key party functionaries.

Speaking to Telangana Today, BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala noted that the Dallas meeting, being the first large-scale BRS event outside India, is expected to be a milestone in strengthening the party’s ties with the global Telangana diaspora. “This is the first time the BRS NRI wing is organising such a large event abroad. It is both symbolic and strategic,” he said.

He pointed out that the party’s overseas units played a crucial role in the Telangana statehood movement as well as the party’s victory twice in the elections, and are once again gearing up to contribute to the State’s future.

According to Mahesh Bigala, the response to the Dallas event has been overwhelming. Initial plans to hold the meeting in a smaller venue had to be revised following a surge in registrations, over 5,000 people signed up in a single day.

Alongside political speeches, the event will feature cultural performances including Bathukamma, Kolatam, and handloom exhibitions, with contributions from both Telangana-based and US-based artists. A replica of the Telangana Thalli statue and the Martyrs’ Memorial will be displayed at the venue.

Among those expected to attend are MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MLC Thatha Madhu, and several former legislators including Karne Prabhakar, Balka Suman, and Gadari Kishore. Preparations are being coordinated with the USA BRS NRI Advisory Board, chaired by Mahesh Tanneeru.

As the party prepares to launch its fresh membership drive next month, Mahesh Bigala said the NRI wing will simultaneously begin enrollment campaigns in their respective countries. The BRS plans to take its silver jubilee celebrations to other global locations including UK, the Gulf, South Africa, and Malaysia over the next year.

“We will continue to act as the party’s ambassadors abroad, educating people on the ten-year achievements of the BRS government and also explaining the failure of the Congress in fulfilling its promises. The people are beginning to see the contrast clearly,” he added.

He said the Dallas event will lay the foundation for a renewed overseas campaign to mobilise support for the party’s future political strategies—both within Telangana and across the global diaspora.
