Congress, TDP leaders dreaded saying ‘Jai Telangana’ till BRS came

He recalled that even the word ‘Telangana’ was banned in the Assembly, with the Speaker issuing a ruling on the matter, while addressing the party’s silver jubilee meeting at Elkakurthy. He emphasized that at every crucial moment, it was the BRS leaders who made personal sacrifices for the cause of Telangana.

Hyderabad: There was a time when Congress and Telugu Desam leaders here resisted raising the Jai Telangana slogan, BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao said, stating this changed only after the pink flag of the BRS (then TRS) was hoisted.

Even the word ‘Telangana’ was prohibited in the Assembly and a ruling was issued by the Speaker, he recalled while speaking at the party’s silver jubilee meeting at Elkakurthy meeting.

At every juncture, it was the BRS leaders who sacrificed their positions for Telangana’s cause, he said.
