Congress regime is a “20 per cent commission government”, which ushered in chaos and failure on all fronts. They signed bonds for everything from Rythu Bandhu hike to Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver. They collected votes on 420 promises, and even took oaths at temples but failed to fulfil them, says BRS supremo

Warangal: In a no-holds-barred attack, BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao tore into the Congress on Sunday, branding it “Villain No 1” for Telangana. Charging the government with pushing Telangana’s hard-won prosperity into ruins within just 18 months, he also declared that no force could stop the BRS from returning to power.

Vowing to stand firmly with the people who were being targeted by the government, he asserted: “The Congress is Telangana’s eternal villain, Villain No.1 — then, now, and forever.”

Addressing a massive public meeting organised to mark the silver jubilee year of BRS at Elkathurthy and to launch yearlong celebrations, Chandrashekhar Rao said the Congress had a history of betrayal — from merging Telangana against its people’s wishes to suppressing the 1969 movement, and then granting Telangana under political compulsion in 2014, without shedding its anti-Telangana mindset.

“Even now, the Congress is deceiving voters after making false promises to win elections,” he stated.

The BRS supremo pointed out that his party, through a 25-year-long struggle, realised Telangana Statehood and set it firmly on the path of growth and welfare. He recalled flagship programmes such as 24×7 power supply, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bandhu, and Rythu Bima that transformed the rural economy. “From Sher Shah Suri who introduced revenue system in India to today, no ruler supported farmers like we did,” he reminded.

In contrast, the Congress regime was a “20 per cent commission government”, which had delivered only chaos and collapse, with complete administrative failure, he said.

“They signed bonds for everything from Rythu Bandhu hike to Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver. They collected votes on 420 promises, even took oaths at temples. They made tall claims of being experienced and knowledgeable to deliver their promises, but are now giving excuses that none are trusting them to even give a loan,” he remarked sharply, adding that the Congress had succeeded only in making false promises, forcibly taking 20-30 percent commissions and filling moneybags to be carried to Delhi.

Chandrashekhar Rao lambasted the Congress for destroying Telangana’s growth, undoing the progress achieved painstakingly under BRS regime over a decade. “Land prices have fallen, power and water crises have returned, investments have slowed down, and the State economy is gasping,” he said, adding that the Congress succeeded only in providing free bus rides to women leading to fights in buses.

He lashed out at the government’s brutal HYDRAA demolitions of poor people’s houses under the Musi project, contrasting it with the BRS’ Mission Kakatiya that rejuvenated water bodies. “While we used earthmovers to desilt tanks, the Congress is using them to demolish homes of the poor. Should we still remain silent?” he asked.

Turning emotional, the former Chief Minister said Telangana’s collapse under Congress misrule was filling him with pain, grief and rage. He promised to intensify his battle, legally and politically.

“I did not criticise them for 16 months to give them time, but with the State crumbling, silence is no longer an option. I will settle every score,” he declared, warning the Congress leaders not to underestimate the people’s anger.

Chandrashekhar Rao also charged the Congress with weaponising the police against the BRS cadre, especially its social media warriors who were questioning the failures of governance. Urging police officials to respect democratic rights, he warned them not to overreact.

“Your political overreach is being noted. “Tonight, when you return home, write this down in your diaries — BRS will return to power and no force can stop it,” he told the police, adding that even on Sunday, police and transport officials had created hurdles by stopping buses with BRS cadre, leading to traffic jams with over 1.5 lakh stuck stranded on the streets.

He stated that the BRS would follow Constitutional routes to fight for justice and asked the people to reach out to the BRS legal cell to fight the high-handedness of the Congress.

He also targeted the BJP for undermining Telangana’s interests, recalling how seven mandals were snatched away from erstwhile Khammam district. He strongly objected to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated criticism of Telangana’s formation. He reminded that in its 11 year rule, the BJP did not give even Rs11 additionally to support Telangana.

Declaring that the BRS would stand with the people whether in power or not, Chandrashekhar Rao gave a clarion call to party workers to fight for public causes. Calling for unity and strategic resistance, he urged intellectuals, citizens, and BRS cadres to act wisely, not impulsively.

“If we fight for the people, they will fight for us,” he said, reaffirming his confidence that the tides had turned against the Congress and that the future belonged to the BRS.
