Farmers stage protest over delay in paddy procurement in Telangana’s Medak

Medak: Farmers took to the streets on Tuesday over the delay in procurement of paddy at Uppalingapur in Veldurthi mandal.

The farmers had brought paddy to the primary agriculture cooperative society procurement centre (PACS), but the society had not yet started the procurement, prompting the farmers to stage a protest.

Since the area was witnessing continuous rains, the farmers were finding it difficult to protect their paddy.

According to the farmers, the PACS planned 18 procurement centres across the mandal, but they did not start purchasing paddy at even eight centres so far. The farmers from all these villages were suffering due to the delay in procurement, they said.
