Siddipet: An instance of police personnel accepting bribes from various sources came to light when a home guard allegedly asked a man to hand over the bribe amount to a hotel owner and a wine shop cashier at the Mirudoddi mandal headquarters.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested the home guard, Santosh Goud, on Thursday.
According to the ACB officials, Ameer, a resident of Hyderabad, recently visited Dubbak on personal work. During his visit, his bike hit a local man named Raju at Mirudoddi, who lodged a complaint with the Mirudoddi police.
Home guard Santosh Goud allegedly struck a deal with Ameer to settle the matter for Rs 10,000, though he initially demanded Rs 15,000.
However, Ameer approached the ACB, which laid a trap to catch the accused.
Goud instructed Ameer to pay Rs 2,000 to a hotel owner, Rs 3,000 to a cashier at a local wine shop and another Rs 3,000 to Raju.
Ameer was asked to hand over the remaining Rs 2,000 directly to Goud.
The ACB team, led by Sudharshan, apprehended Santosh Goud while accepting the bribe. An investigation is under way.
