Hyderabad: A 57-year-old Brazil national died under suspicious circumstances at her apartment at Nizampet in Bachupally on Saturday. She is suspected to have died due to critical illness, police said.

The woman was identified as Oliveira dos Santos Lucia Glide alias Lucia Godes Choubey, currently residing at Villa No. 79, Green Avenues in Nizampet.

As per the preliminary investigation, Lucia, who was suffering from several chronic health problems, is said to be suffering from diseases like diabetes, stomach cancer, thyroid problems and dust-related asthma.

According to Pastor Prabhudas, the complainant, he went to visit Lucia on Friday evening and found she was unwell. He had advised her to go to the hospital, but she refused. With this, the pastor asked the security personnel present in the premises to keep a watch on her and left.

Later, on Saturday, Prabhudas sent a church member, Kishore, to visit her. She was found lying unconscious on the bed. She was immediately shifted to the hospital, where the doctor declared her dead.

Lucia came to India in 2012 after marrying Sunil Choubey from Odisha. They separated in 2015. After that, she continued to live in India, taking legal action on personal matters and with the help of Pastor Prabhudas.

Based on a Prabhudas’s complaint, the Bachupally police booked a case and are investigating.
