Hyderabad: An earthquake of 3.8 magnitude on the Richter Scale hit parts of Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad at around 06.50 pm on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the National Institute of Seismology (NIS) alert.
An earthquake of 3.8 magnitude is usually considered as minor. People often feel the tremors, but typically causes only minor damage at the most. People experiencing an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 might notice hanging objects swinging and rumbling sensation.
People in Jannaram and Luxettipet mandal headquarters in Mancherial district, Kaddampeddur, Khanapur mandal centres and surrounding villages in Nirmal district and Goleti village in Rebbena mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad claimed that they felt tremors for 2 to 3 seconds in the evening.
They stated that they ran out of their homes fearing the houses would collapse. They claimed that utensils and crackers fell down due to the impact of the tremors.
On December 4, mild tremors were felt in Luxettipet, Jaipur, Mancherial, Kasipet, Dandepalli, Hajipur mandals of Mancherial district, Bejjur, Koutala and Asifabad, and Wankidi mandals of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
