Peddapalli: Girl Empowerment Mission starts in NTPC

Peddapalli: A 28-day girl empowerment workshop, Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM)-2025 began in National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on Tuesday.
The core aim of GEM was to empower young girls, particularly from underserved communities by giving them access to opportunities, guidance and holistic development.
Inaugurating the workshop, Executive Director, NTPC (Ramagundam & Telangana), Chandan Kumar Samanta said that empowering girls was not just a noble endeavor, it was an imperative for progress and sustainable development.
They firmly believe that girls have the power to change the world if they were given the opportunity to thrive.
Terming the girls as future leaders, innovators and change-makers, he said that they would drive positive transformation in the society.
On the occasion, study kits and uniforms were distributed to all the girls by dignitaries.
A total of 120 bright and deserving girls from nearby government schools have been selected to participate in the workshop. During this month-long journey, they would experience a nurturing environment that builds their confidence, skills and aspirations.
The workshop comprises academic support, skill development, creative expression and physical confidence programmes.
At the end of the program, NTPC Ramagundam takes a step further by selecting 10 exceptional participants and enrolling them in schools within the NTPC Township.
President, Deepthi Mahila Samithi, Rakhi Samanta, all GMS, senior members of DMS, representatives of union & Associations, CMO, HODs, GEM-2024 selected girls & their parents were present at the event.
