Hyderabad: Telangana State’s below-par summer, characterised by fewer heat wave days and more thunderstorms, is expected to continue for few more days, with Hyderabad MET Department issuing an orange alert for heavy thunderstorms and gusty winds for next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

According to the Hyderabad MET department’s forecast, thunderstorms are expected to continue until May 20, effectively leaving only 10-days of summer before the onset of South West Monsoons in the first week of June.

While certain weather conditions have led to a milder summer, the increased thunderstorm activity poses a challenge, particularly for farmers and agriculture.

The IMD-Hyderabad, in its seven-day forecast and farmer’s weather bulletin for Telangana State until May 18, has indicated widespread thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

All the rest of the districts will witness heavy thunderstorms but with gusty wind speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. Overall, there will be light to moderate rain or thunder showers that are very likely to occur at multiple locations over Telangana State.
