Hotel worker ends life over harassment by loan app executives in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A hotel worker died by suicide allegedly due to the harassment of loan app executives at Chaitanyapuri on Saturday night.

According to the police, P Akshith, who was staying at a hostel at Hanumannagar in Chaitanyapuri and is a native of Jagtial district, worked at a hotel. A few months ago, due to financial problems, he borrowed money from some people and also obtained loans through certain apps.

Since sometime, the lenders were harassing him to return the money. He told his friends that the loan app company executives were constantly calling him.

On Saturday night, Akshith hanged himself to the ceiling fan in the room using a towel and ended his life.

On Sunday morning, the hostel managers noticed him hanging in the room and alerted the police. The police arrived and after preliminary enquiry shifted the body to the mortuary. A case is registered. The police seized the mobile phone of Akshith for further investigation.
