Telangana: Vemulawada observes peaceful bandh in support of temple cause

Traders close shops as part of a bandh observed in the Vemulawada temple town on Wednesday.

Rajanna-Sircilla: The Vemulawada town bandh call given by the temple protection committee went off peacefully on Wednesday.

Traders, from from small vendors to big traders, extended their support to the bandh by voluntarily closing their business establishments.

The Temple Protection Committee was formed along with various political parties and local people to fight against the State government’s decision to close the Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple to take up developmental works.

As part of their agitation, the committee gave the temple town bandh call on Wednesday. Members of the committee toured the town. There were no untoward incidents during the bandh as all traders voluntarily closed their business establishments.

The committee said it was ridiculous to close the temple for two years in the name of development.
