Telangana: Man arrested for occupying government land in Adilabad


Adilabad: A man was arrested for allegedly trying to grab government land by creating fake documents of ownership and registering the asset on his name here on Friday. One more accused person was absconding.

Giving details of arrests to pressmen, Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that Mohammad Akram was apprehended for his role in occupying a piece of government land located in Bhuktapur and worth many crores of rupees by producing fake documents of ownership. Syed Shabuddin, another accused person, was still at large.


On being interrogated, Akram confessed to committing the crime by producing fake documents and to illegally registering the land onto his name. He admitted to encroaching upon 469 sq yards of land by claiming to be residing in it for 35 years. He revealed that he created the documents in the name of Shabuddin.

Jeevan Reddy further said that police were probing into the role of officials in the offence and allocation of house number to the asset. He warned of stringent action against those who occupy government lands. He said that non-bailable cases would be registered against wrongdoers.
