Hyderabad: The Zoo Advisory Committee, which met here on Saturday, recommended construction of the Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) – based interpretation centres to enhance visitors’ engagement through immersive wildlife learning experience at the zoo.
The committee that met under chairmanship of PCCF (P&V) & CWLW Elusing Meru pitched for collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Bibinagar to undertake research on zoonotic diseases and establish preventive health strategies, apart from a real-time air quality monitoring system within the zoo premises.
The committee sought strengthening of zoo-based conservation initiatives by recruiting subject specialists and conservation scientists and establishment of a designated conservation and research centre to promote studies and facilitate species recovery efforts, promote collaborative research initiatives involving national and international research institutions.
Zoo Parks Director Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, HMDA Joint Metropolitan Commissioner Sreevatsa Kota, HMDA Urban Forestry Director Srinivas CCMB, Hyderabad LaCONES in charge director and principal scientist, Dr. Umapathy among others participated in the meeting.
