The ban is effective immediately and users will be banned without any warning, according to the official announcement made on April 28, 2025.
Hyderabad: In a major move, the moderators of the reddit community r/Pakistan have announced a blanket ban on users who are or have been active in Indian-related subreddits. “The ban is effective immediately and users will be banned without any warning”, the Reddit post said.
The moderators justified the decision was taken “to protect the integrity and atmosphere of the community”. They explained that some users from Indian subreddits had earlier tried to spread false narratives and create disturbances in the group. The post also claimed that an Indian user posted a fake video saying that Pakistani tea was not good, ‘which turned out to be false’.
To ensure that no Pakistani redditor got banned by mistake, the moderators said a message could be sent to them with an explanation for review and lifting of the ban, “but no such option is given to Indians”.
The language used in the announcement was openly hostile. The moderators accused Indian users of spreading fake narratives and posting false videos. Over 700 accounts have been banned in the past 48 hours according to them.
