Kothagudem: Chhattisgarh officials have taken up a survey to enumerate tribal workers who migrated from their State to Telangana and other neighbouring States in search of livelihood.

A team of officials led by Bastar district Assistant Commissioner Kalyan Singh visited Bhadrachalam as part of the survey and called on ITDA Project Officer B Rahul. He said the survey was meant to find out where the migrants were living, working as daily wage labourers in urban and rural areas with their families.

Rahul told the team members that Koya and Guthikoya migrant workers were mostly settled in rural areas in many places in erstwhile Khammam district earning their livelihood while some of them were also living in urban areas.

The ITDA has assigned a junior assistant to work with the Chhattisgarh team to collect details of the migrant workers in Kothagudem and Khammam districts.

Kalyan Singh said the survey was undertaken at the directions of Bastar District Collector. The team would visit the migrant workers’ homes to collect data about their settlements in towns or villages and whether they would return to their homes or not. After completing the survey a detailed report would be submitted to the Bastar Collector, he added.
