‘No intent behind it’: Virat Kholi adresses social media buzz

Hyderabad: Virat Kohli has broken his silence after a viral incident involving his Instagram account created a buzz online. The former Indian cricket team captain clarified that a recent “like” on a fan page post about actress Avneet Kaur was unintentional and caused by an algorithm error.

The issue started on May 2, when fans spotted Kohli’s official handle in the “likes” of a post featuring the actress. Though the post was simple and harmless, it spread quickly on social media. Some users even dragged his wife, Anushka Sharma, into the conversation, making baseless assumptions.

For those unfamiliar, Avneet Kaur is an Indian actress known for her roles in Hindi television and films. She gained fame through shows like Dance India Dance Li’l Masters, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, Mardaani, Chandra Nandini, Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga, and most recently, Tiku Weds Sheru.

To put an end to the gossip, Kohli took to his Instagram Stories and gave a clear statement. He wrote:

“While clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made.”

He did not mention the actress or post directly, but his message was enough to calm the situation. The “like” has since been removed.

Such incidents are not new for celebrities, whose every move is closely watched online. Kohli’s calm and respectful response reminded fans not to jump to conclusions.
