PIB debunks fake letter claiming ‘BrahMos failure’ amid ‘Operation Sindoor’

Hyderabad: Amid heightened national security following India’s Operation Sindoor, a fake letter purportedly issued by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been circulating online, alleging a failure in BrahMos missile components.

The letter, falsely attributed to a DRDO scientist named AS Kumar, claims technical faults in missile systems used during the operation. However, India’s official fact-checking body, PIB Fact Check, has swiftly debunked the document, calling it “fake” and warning the public against falling for misinformation.

“There is no scientist named A.S. Kumar at DRDO’s Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE),” clarified @PIBFactCheck in a post on X on Wednesday.

This development comes in the wake of India’s strategic military action across the Line of Control, leading to increased digital misinformation and propaganda attempts.

Officials have urged citizens to rely only on verified government channels for defence-related updates and to report suspicious content.
