European parliament serves interests of US Empire, Western imperialism: Ex-European MP

Former Member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace has denounced the European Parliament as a “parliament of hypocrisy” that serves the interests of the US Empire and Western imperialism.
Wallace made these remarks during the third edition of the International Sobh Media Festival in Tehran on Monday, where he was honored with the Special Martyr Ismail Haniyeh Award in recognition of his support for Palestine and the resistance front.
Addressing attendees, the firebrand Irish politician condemned the European Parliament’s “hypocrisy” and alignment with American and Western geopolitical agendas.
“We have worked in the European parliament, which is really a parliament of hypocrisy. They say they have European values, but they have proved they don’t,” Wallace asserted.
“They are very much tied to the interests of the US Empire and Western imperialism. But things would change.”
He went on to denounce the criminal silence of Western political and media institutions regarding ongoing genocidal war and humanitarian crises, particularly in Gaza and Yemen.
“We see genocide in Gaza on our telephones. The world won’t be the same again. There is no going back,” said Wallace, who represented Ireland’s South constituency in the European parliament.
“Western imperialism has been exposed for what it is, the political class has been exposed for who they are. The mainstream media has been exposed for who they are, and the people are seeing through it.”
He also predicted a major shift in global consciousness surrounding the Palestinian cause.
“Things are not going to be the same. Zionism is finished and there is no beating the Palestinians,” he asserted, referring to the growing wave of pro-Palestinian solidarity around the world.
The International Sobh Media Festival, organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service, is currently underway and attended by dozens of international guests.
The annual event seeks to elevate voices and narratives often marginalized in Western media, particularly those aligned with resistance movements opposing imperialist forces.
