Israel will not prevail and Gaza will be free, says former European Parliament member

Former Member of the European Parliament Clare Daly delivered a powerful message of solidarity with Palestine during her appearance at the third edition of the International Sobh Media Festival in Tehran on Monday.
Daly, who served as a member of the European Parliament from Ireland for the Dublin constituency from July 2019 to July 2024, was presented with the Special Martyr Ismail Haniyeh Award in recognition of her support for the Palestinian cause, especially amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Daly has been an outspoken advocate of the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation and apartheid and has extensively spoken on it in international forums.
“Being awarded for telling the truth in the parliament about genocide is not really something that should get the award. It was our job,” Daly said in her brief speech.
She said they are trying to be the voice of the resistance on every continent and in every country at a time when the “leaders of our so-called democratic world facilitate and enable that genocide.”
Daly expressed hope and confidence in the ultimate outcome of the Palestinian struggle, noting that the Israeli regime “will not prevail and Gaza will be free.”
The International Sobh Media Festival, organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service, is currently underway and attended by dozens of international guests.
The annual media event seeks to amplify voices and narratives often marginalized in Western media, particularly those pertaining to the resistance movements opposing imperialist forces.
This year’s Sobh media festival came as the genocidal war on Gaza is nearing 20 months.
